FAIRFIELD - Nearly five years after the town purchased a 7-acre parcel known as Parkview Commons -- to save it from over-development, provide affordable housing and add acreage to Veterans Park -- two lots on Reef Road have gone unsold. The property was formerly Navy housing and when the RTM approved the development plan for the site, it provided that those two lots be sold as market rate housing. Town officials have tried to find buyers but have been unsuccessful.
On Tuesday night, the Representative Town Meeting, by a 22--21 tally, voted to allow the two lots to be sold as affordable homeownership units.
