Stratford Supt. of Schools Gives Back Her Annual Bonus

STRATFORD -- Supt. of Schools Irene Cornish had a simple explanation Thursday night why she believes Mayor James R. Miron's proposed $1.3 million cut to the Board of Education's $89.6 million budget request makes no sense.

With Miron threatening massive layoffs if labor unions don't agree to a wage freeze, more than 500 people turned out -- mostly in support -- of Cornish's budget presentation to members of the Town Council, Board of Education and School Board Liaison Committee at Flood Middle School.
